A Career in Medicine
Open to: Students, parents, teachers and career advisors
Aim of Sesssion:
Doctors from our Trust will give a brief overview of how they got to where they are
What life as a Doctor is really like
A chance for you to ask any questions about a career in medicine and application process
Following on from this, students that are keen to pursue a career in medicine will be invited to apply to our virtual work experience scheme, successful applicants will be paired up with a doctor and one of our patients to have a chat about what it’s really like to be in the NHS. After this, we will organise in-house work experience within the Trust. We hope that this will provide you with the knowledge and insight of what medicine is really about, and hopefully give you the experience that you need to excel in your medical school interviews!

National Apprenticeship Week
7th – 13th February 2022
We will be showcasing and celebrating our Apprentices throughout National Apprenticeship Week. Including ‘a day in the life of an apprentice’ video. We’ll also be hosting an awareness session for students looking for apprenticeship opportunities within the NHS.
Nursing Work Experience Workshop

Our free, interactive nursing workshops are delivered by clinical experts to give you an insight into what it’s really like to work in nursing.
In previous workshops, our nurses have delivered talks on:
Journey to become a qualified nurse, expectations and accountability, a ‘day in the life’ working on a ward, overviews from various specialities, the role of a plaster technician, including a demonstration, simulation activity. There are also opportunities for students to ask questions.
